Shane's Tale Stack

Books and board games, reviewed the way I actually get to them: one at a time, off the stack.

About

Illustrated portrait of Shane Talbot

Overnight shift lead at a regional grocery distribution warehouse outside Spokane, going on nine years now.

I run the overnight crew at a grocery distribution warehouse outside Spokane, which means my reading and my game nights both happen on a schedule most people would call backwards. I've been doing this job about nine years now. I read on my lunch break at 2am with the break room radio turned down low, and Renata and I get two-player games in most weekends because that's honestly the only format that survives our actual free time. This is where I write about what I finish, book or box, whenever I finish it.

Site's new as of August 2026 -- mostly reviews for now, more of the other stuff as it comes.

What's here

Book reviews, board game reviews, and personal essays. No schedule, no affiliate links, nothing sponsored. I write about a book or a game after I've actually finished it and have something to say, which is why the dates on here are irregular.
